Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026 · Applies to the “Contraction Timer” app (iOS, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS) and this website.

In short: your contractions stay on your device. We run no tracking, no analytics and no ads, and there is no account. Your contractions, notes and settings never leave your device at all. The only things that go out are the Premium purchase through Apple or Google and, if you switch them on, voluntary crash reports.

2. Principle: data stays on your device

Everything you record in the app – contractions (start, end, intensity), notes, settings such as your chosen hospital rule, breathing-exercise history – is stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database. We have no access to it. There is no user account.

The data is part of your operating system’s device backup (e.g. iCloud or Google backup) if you have that enabled; Apple’s or Google’s privacy terms apply to those backups.

You can delete all data yourself at any time: Settings → Delete data, or by uninstalling the app.

3. No tracking, no analytics

The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs, no ad networks and no fingerprinting. We do not build usage profiles and do not share data for advertising.

4. Crash reports (opt-in only)

If you enable crash reports in Settings, technical details are sent to us when the app crashes (device model, OS version, app version, stack trace, time). Contraction data and notes are never included. Reports are used solely to fix bugs.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings; processing carried out before withdrawal remains lawful. Retention: 90 days.

5. Purchases (Premium)

Premium is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment, your billing details and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple or Google; we receive no payment data.

To verify that a valid purchase exists we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA). This processes a random, device-specific app user ID, the purchase receipt, platform, app version and country code. No names or email addresses are transmitted. Transfers to the USA are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which RevenueCat participates in.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract). Retention: for as long as the entitlement exists and statutory retention periods require.

6. Notifications

Alerts such as “time to call the hospital” or the smart alarm are generated as local notifications directly on your device. No push servers and no external services are used. You can revoke the permission in your system settings at any time.

7. Heart rate on the Watch (beta, opt-in only)

On Apple Watch you can voluntarily allow access to your heart rate via HealthKit as part of a beta feature, so it can be shown during a breathing exercise. This data is processed on the watch only, is never uploaded to us or to third parties, never leaves the app sandbox, and is not used for advertising or any other purpose. We do not write any data to HealthKit.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR (consent). Withdraw at any time in the Watch settings under Health → Privacy.

8. This website

The website is static and uses no cookies, no analytics and no ads. When you visit, our hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, time, page requested, user agent) in server logs that are deleted after 14 days at the latest. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation).

The “Outfit” and “Nunito Sans” typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Ltd.), which transmits your IP address to Google. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

9. Recipients and international transfers

Data is transferred only to the service providers named above (RevenueCat – USA; Apple or Google as store operators; hosting provider; Google Fonts) and only to the extent described. Transfers outside the EU take place only where appropriate safeguards under Art. 44 et seq. GDPR are in place.

10. Retention

  • Local app data: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Crash reports: 90 days.
  • Purchase data: for the duration of the entitlement and statutory retention periods.
  • Website server logs: 14 days.
  • Support emails: until your request is resolved, at most 12 months.

11. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the one responsible for your place of residence.

Because contraction data lives only on your device, you can exercise access, export (PDF in Premium) and erasure directly in the app. For anything else, write to support@babyjourney.studio.

12. No automated decision-making

Pattern detection and the hospital alert run locally on your device and are purely assistive. They make no decisions with legal effect and are not a substitute for medical judgement.

13. Changes

We update this policy when the app or the legal situation changes. The current version is always available at this address and in the app under Settings → Privacy.
